Authenticity & Condition

Where a piece has been professionally restored or refinished, this is always stated in the product description. Many of our pieces are in original, unrestored condition — which is often preferable for serious collectors as it preserves authenticity and value.

All items are sold in the condition described and photographed in the listing. Antique and vintage pieces will naturally show signs of age — patina, minor marks, or wear — which we consider part of their character and history. Any significant restoration or repairs are clearly noted in the product description. For more information, please reference our condition key.

Every piece at Antique Works Ireland is personally sourced and verified by us. Each product listing clearly states the approximate date, period, and country of origin, and we describe condition honestly. If you have any questions about a specific item, get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

Absolutely. If you'd like to see additional angles, details or close-ups of any piece before purchasing, simply get in touch and we'll be happy to send them over.

Delivery & Collection

Yes, we deliver to all counties across Ireland via An Post and DPD Ireland. Delivery is quoted separately after purchase based on your location and the size of your item. Once your order is placed, we'll be in touch with a delivery quote.

We take great care in packaging every piece. Fragile and large items are carefully wrapped and protected to ensure they arrive safely. If you have concerns about a specific item, contact us before purchasing and we can advise on how it will be packaged and shipped.

In the unlikely event that an item arrives damaged in transit, please photograph the packaging and the item immediately and contact us without delay. We take great care in packaging every piece and work with reputable couriers, but we understand that accidents can happen and we will work with you to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

Buying & Payment

We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay through our secure Shopify checkout. All transactions are encrypted and processed securely.

As our pieces are one-of-a-kind, we're unable to hold items without payment. If you're interested in a piece but have questions before committing, get in touch and we'll do our best to help.

As each piece is unique and sold as described, we are unable to accept returns unless an item is significantly not as described. We encourage you to review all photos and descriptions carefully before purchasing, and to contact us with any questions beforehand.

General

Generally speaking, an item is considered antique if it is over 100 years old, and vintage if it is between 20 and 100 years old. At Antique Works Ireland we stock both, and each listing clearly states the approximate age and period of the piece.

Quality antique and vintage furniture has historically held or increased in value over time, particularly pieces in original condition from well-regarded periods or makers. Unlike mass-produced modern furniture, antiques are finite — no more are being made — which underpins their long-term desirability.

Antique pieces work beautifully in contemporary interiors — the contrast between old and new is what makes a room feel curated rather than generic. A good starting point is one or two statement pieces per room, mixed confidently with simpler modern surroundings.
