Set of Four Art Nouveau Nesting Tables (c. 1900)

A sophisticated and beautifully preserved set of four graduated nesting tables — known in French as tables gigognes — dating from the early 20th century. These tables occupy a fascinating transitional moment in the history of decorative arts, their forms and ornament reflecting the gentle shift from the lingering influence of the Louis XVI Revival toward the sinuous, nature-inspired vocabulary of the emerging Art Nouveau movement.

Each table is a miniature exercise in refined craftsmanship: slender, tapering legs, delicately turned stretchers, and tops whose figuring, inlay, or carved detail varies subtly across the set.
